Process Overview
Polymerization is the process of converting small molecules such as ethylene, propylene, styrene, methyl methacrylate into long chain molecules such as Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Polystyrene, Poly Methyl Methacrylate. The selected technology depends on:
• Polymer type (polyolefin, PVC, PET, rubber, etc.)
• Target product properties (molecular weight, density, melt flow index)
• End-use application (packaging, automotive, fibers, medical, etc.)
• Production scale and economic
Process Schematic
Polymer manufacturing generally involves the following process steps:
1. Monomer preparation & purification
2. Polymerization reaction
3. Polymer recovery & finishing
4. Compounding & pelletizing
The most common process technologies for making various Polymer products are listed in the table below:

RVN Advantage
RVN Technical Team has experience and expertise working on various process technologies for Polymer Production. The RVN team has developed very complex simulation models of entire Polymer Production units. We have also developed the Process Design Package for several proprietary polymer processes. RVN can lead/support project execution from the conceptual design stage all the way to the detailed engineering stage. RVN works with partners that can provide procurement, construction and startup services. In short, RVN can help turn conceptual ideas into fully operational projects making commercially successful products in a safe and environmentally friendly process.
